Maurice B. Bailey -- Chatfield
CHATFIELD -- A memorial service for Maurice B. Bailey will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, with the Rev. Kenneth Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the Chatfield Cemetery.
Mr. Bailey, 86, of rural Chatfield, a longtime area farmer, died Wednesday (July 28, 2004) at his farm home.
He was born April 8, 1918, in Jordan Township, Fillmore County, where he lived and farmed all his life. He graduated from Chatfield High School in 1934 and served in the military during World War II. On Nov. 28, 1948, he married Joan King at the Sumner Center Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, William (JulLea) and Steven (Vicky), both of Chatfield, and Dr. Ross (Joy) of Mantorville; a daughter, Marie (Bryan) Strain of Eagan, Minn.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Helene Spelhaug of Chatfield. A brother preceded him in death.
Friends may call an hour before the service Monday at the funeral home.
