Chanute, KS ~ April 1975

After an extended illness, Daniel E. Bower, Jr., 67, of Longmont, Colorado (1826 W. 9th Ave.)and a former resident of Chanute, KS, died Friday, April 11, 1975, at Longmont United Hospital.

He was born September 17, 1907 in rural Chanute, Kansas, the son of Daniel Everett Bower, Sr. and Laura Levona (Hodgden) Bower .

He married Helen A. (Burtch) Martin (Helen A. Burtch-Bower) on Aug 20, 1939 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

He graduated from Chanute Senior High School in 1926.

He farmed west of Chanute until 1945 when he began employment with the John Deere Implement Company, moving to the J.I. Case Company in 1959 in the Kansas City branch as a service instructor. He was transferred to Denver and promoted to service representative. He moved to Lamar, Colorado in 1967, and after retirement in 1971 moved to Longmont where he was employed by Pope Implement Company.

Survivers include his widow, Helen; three sons, Jon David I of Westminster,CO, James Stephen of Longmont, CO, and (Norman DeVere Martin) of Las Vegas, NV; three daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Janice) Henderson of Longmont, CO, Mrs. Clifford (Lolly) Harmon of Lamar, CO, and (Mary H. Bower-Novak) of the home; 17 grandchildren, Rock, Shiela, Danny, and Patti Henderson of Longmont, CO, Jenise and Andrea Martin, of Las Vegas, NV, Tammy, Cindy, Lori, & Jon II Bower of Thayer, KS and Jonna & Gina Bower of Westminster, CO, Randy & Danita Fenz-Harmon, & Marla Ursini-Fenz-Harmon, Melisse and Niki Harmon of Lamar, CO, and Aaron & Andrew Bower of Loveland, CO; and 1 great-grandson, Scott Henderson; his mother, Mrs. Laura (Hodgden) Bower of Chanute, KS; three sisters (Mrs. Glenn (Arletta) Hanson) and (Mrs. William (Ellen) Knock) , both of Chanute, KS, and (Mrs. Nellie Brower) of Moran, KS; three brothers, W. Fred Bower, 1310 w. 2nd, (Emmett Bower) , Rt. 3, both of Chanute, KS, and (Hugh Bower) of Grisham, OR;

A memorial in his name has been established with the Mountain View Church of the Nazarene in Longmont, Colorado.

The funeral was in Lamar, Colorado.
