Mrs. Gilbert Anhalt, 61, of R. 1, New Holstein, died Friday evening at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, where she had been hospitalized about six months.
A resident of New Holstein the past 35 years, the former Veronica Karls was born in Marytown Aug. 20, 1912, the daughter of the late Matthias and Katherine Pauly Karls. She attended Marytown schools. On June 16, 1931 she was married to Mr. Anhalt at Marytown. Mrs. Anhalt was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church New Holstein, and its Christian Mothers Society.
Survivors are her husband; 10 sons, Orville and Edward, both of R. 1, New Holstein, Leo of Kiel, Robert of R. 1, Kiel, Wilfred of Marytown, James of Chilton, and Joseph, Richard, John and Michael, all at home; six daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Sylveria) Krebsbach of R. 3, Fond du Lac, Mrs. Glen (Rosemary) Lindstrom of Gladstone, Mich., Mrs. Raymond (Valeria Ann) Pingel of R. 2, Chilton, Mrs. Phillip (Gloria) Endries of R. 1, Kiel, Mrs. Orville (Mary Lou) Behnke of R. 2, Brillion and Mrs. Thomas (Luella) Bender of Marytown.
She also is survived by 38 grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Karls of New Holstein and Herman Karls of Marytown; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Daun, a resident of Calumet Homestead, New Holstein, Mrs. Norbert Schmitz and Mrs. Theodore Nicolay, both of New Holstein. A brother and three grandchildren preceded her in death.
Funeral services at Holy Rosary Church. The Rev. Ralph Hermsen, pastor, will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
