John Lyle, the third son of Robert Lyle, was born in Washington County, Penna. on July 17, 1787. He married his cousin, Isabella Miller, daughter of Alexander and Jane Lyle Miller, and they removed to Belmont County, Ohio where they settled on a farm near the village of Uniontown. He was a man of extra-ordinary intelligence and force of character and was a highly influential citizen in church and state. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle and their family were faithful members of the Old Crabapple Presbyterian Church which was located near their farm in Belmont County. Mr Lyle died on June 5, 1851 at the age of 64 years. Mrs. Lyle's death occurred about 7 years later. The family of John and Isabella consisted of three sons and four daughters:
