Nicholas was drafted into the Marines.
When Nicholas arrived in Vietnam, he was assigned to India Company, 3rd Battalion, 26th Regiment, 1st Marine Division.
Survived by his parents, Vidal Sumera and Josephine Nonetta (Primerano) Gonzales and brother of Jeanne and D'Arcy of Pontiac, Michigan and a brother, Robert Vidal Gonzales that served in the US Army and US Marines.
