Marie Albrecht, 89, Nichols, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at Simpson Memorial Home, West Liberty, after a short illness.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the Barker Funeral Home, West Liberty. Memorials may be made to the Nichols First Responders or Nichols United Methodist Church. Services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, at the Nichols United Methodist Church. The Rev. Betsey Neipert will officiate. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Albrecht was born on May 20, 1913, near Fairport, the daughter of Ed and Lulu (Dipple) Wedekind. She married Harold Albrecht on August 7, 1943, in Kahoka, Missouri.

She graduated from Muscatine High School in 1930.

She was employed at the Veterans Hospital, Iowa City, as a cashier for 15 years.

She was a member of Nichols United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women and Sunday school. She was also involved with 4-H and volunteered at Lutheran Homes in Muscatine, for many years.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Laura Davis and husband Brian of Alexandria, Virginia. and Lois Albrecht of Iowa City; a son, Dennis Albrecht and wife Linda of West Liberty; two grandchildren, Michelle Dvorsky and husband Brad and Jody Albrecht; two great-granddaughters, Brittney Jo and Brooklyn Michelle Dvorsky; and a brother, Edwin Wedekind of Muscatine.
