Dwight David Eckhart, 53, of Las Cruces entered eternal life Sunday, February 6th, 2011 at Mountain View Hospital. David, as he was known to family and friends, was born August 2nd, 1957 in Columbus, Ohio to Preston G. and Jane Eckhart. He proudly served his community as a Police Officer for the Las Cruces Police Department and retired as a Lieutenant in 2000. David was a Mason and a member of the Dona Ana Daylight Lodge #78. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his children; Jeremy D. Eckhart, Daniel D. Eckhart, and brothers; Patrick William Eckhart of Columbus, Ohio, and Michael Alan Eckhart of Powell, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents Preston G. and Jane (Woods) Eckhart.
A memorial service and reception will be held on February 20th, 2011 at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum located at 4100 Dripping Springs Rd., Las Cruces from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Arrangements were done by Baca's Funeral Chapels and Sunset Crematory of Las Cruces. 527-2222
