Ray J. Baber, 69, of Whitney, passed away on Monday February 19, at Hillsboro hospital. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 22, at 2:00 p. m., at First Baptist Church, in Blum, with Reverend Eddie Gilstrap officiating, Interment followed at Blum Cemetery, in Blum.

Mr. Baber was born on December 26, 1931, in Dallas. He was the son of Ray Joseph and Geraldine (Jones) Baber Sr. He grew up in Dallas and graduated from Adamson High School. He worked as a draftsman for Sun Oil Company after high school and worked for Tidwell Cabinet Company in Dallas for 20 years. He moved to Whitney in the late 1970s, where he owned and operated Fran - Ray Custom Cabinets. He seeved in the United States Army. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blum, and a past member of the 2604 Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Ray Baber, on November 21, 1981.

Survivors include; his wife - Elna Frances Baber of Whitney; four children - Kathy Fojtik and her husband, Leonard, of DeSoto, Donna Easley and her husband, Dale, of Lancaster, Theresa Quinlan and her husband, Bob, of Mesquite, and Shawn Baber of Dallas; three step - children - Jimmy Hughes and his wife, Candy, of Arlington, Chris Hughes and his wife, Terri, of Fort Worth, and Maria Turner and her husband, Mike, of Laguna Park; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; former wife - Lelia Baber of Dallas.
