Mae Effie Demo
Mae Effie Demo, 80, Bena, died March 22 at Community Memorial Hospital, Deer River.
She was born May 1, 1905 in the Ligmite, N.D. area and moved to Bena in 1931. She had been employed by the Bena Hotel, McArdies Resort and the Big Fish Supper Club near Bena before working 27 years as a cook in the Bena School District, from which she retired in the early 1960s.
Surviving are three sons, Royal of Duluth, Raymond and Leland of Bena; two daughters, Delores Rodberg of Grand Rapids and Marlene (Ray) Risberg of Duluth; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd in 1977.
Services were March 26 at Carroll Funeral Home, Deer River, with Fr. Athanase Fuchs officiating. Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery, Bena.
