Statesboro - Mr. Charles Inman Hendrix, age 77, died Monday, November 19th, at his home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice, following an extended illness. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a 1949 graduate of Portal High School. Following his graduation, Mr. Hendrix joined the United States Air Force, in which he served for two years. He. Hendrix worked for the Alfred Dorman Company until 1963 at which time he founded Bulloch Concrete and owned and operated it until his retirement in 1978.

From February 1981 until January 1984, Charles served his county on the board of commissioners. In numerous ways, he was a dedicated servant to Bulloch County. He was active in the Statesboro High School Quarterback Club and the Kiwanis Club. For over 40 years he was active in the Statesboro Shrine Club, in which he was a generous benefactor in their efforts to rehabilitate crippled children. Charles was also a Master Mason for over 50 years and was a member of the Ogeechee Lodge #213 F&AM. He was a member of the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church. Last but not least, he was an avid horseman.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Marilyn Nevils Hendrix of Statesboro; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Melissa H. and James Parrish of Bluffton, S.C., Laura H. Quattlebaum of Statesboro and Libba H. and Jesse Clark of Evans; four grandchildren, Hannah Parrish, Kate Quattlebaum, Amelia Clark and Dylan Clark; a brother, Carl Hendrix of Statesboro; and a sister, Charlotte Newton of Portal. Two nephews and a niece also survive.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder Randy Waters officiating. Interment will be in the Eastside Cemetery.
