Joseph G. Pirrung, 85, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in Tiffin, Ohio, Joe received his bachelor's degree from Tri- State University in Angola in 1951. He was a Navy WWII Veteran and served in the South Pacific as a Motor Machinist Mate, 2nd Class. Joe worked as a Transmission Engineer with I & M for 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the American Legion, Post #47. He enjoyed woodworking, building projects, traveling, taking pictures and putting together slides for his family. Surviving are his sons, Jim (Judi) Pirrung and John (Kim) Pirrung, both of Fort Wayne; daughters, Barbara (Russ) Follis of Grapevine, Texas and Peggy (Ken) Eber of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Russell (Lorraine) and Christine Follis and Molly and Mary Eber; brothers, Rev. George Pirrung of Cottonwood, Ariz. and James (Donna) Pirrung of Massillon, Ohio; sisters, Frances Fleming of Norwalk, Ohio, and Florence Lucius of Tiffin, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Florence Pirrung of Huber Heights, Ohio. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Clara (Schwerzler) Pirrung; his wife of 62 years, Catherine Pirrung; daughter, Janice Marie Pirrung; and brother, Paul Pirrung. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30am Saturday, February 12, 2011 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 2130 Pemberton Dr. with calling an hour prior. Fr. Robert D'Souza officiating. Calling also from 2:00 to 5:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm Friday at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave with a Vigil and Rosary at 4:30pm.
