Henry Ellison Saunders, 81, Dies at Home in Grapevine

Grapevine, April 9----Henry Ellison (Uncle Bud) Saunders, 81, died at 9.45 a.m. Thursday in the home that had been his residence here since 1889.

A son of the late John and Margaret Stone Saunders, he was born Dec. 15, 1868, on Grapevine Prairie south of Old Cottonwood Church.

He attended Baylor University, later teaching school for a time. He served as a rural mail carrier at Grapevine for 25 years. Mr. Saunders, a retired stockman, was president of the board and a vice-president of First National Bank here.

Survivors include five nieces, 5 nephews, nine grand-nieces and 13 grand-nephews.

Services will be held in First Baptist Church here at 2 p.m. Friday, with Rev. Ray Hand, pastor of Coppell Baptist Church, officiating, assisted by Rev. Leon P. Wood, pastor of the Grapevine church. Burial will take place at the Grapevine Cemetery.
