Rudolph Vaughn, 88, of Dyersburg, died Friday, February 11, 2011 at Henry County Healthcare in Paris.

He was a retired Captain with the Dyersburg Police Department, where he worked for 37 years, member of Southside Baptist Church for over 50 years, Charter Member of the Dyersburg Credit Union, member of Fraternal Order of Police and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, where he received the Purple Heart Medal and Bronze Star Medal.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Loren Stephens and the Rev. Joe Naylor officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 4:30-7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Doris R. Vaughn of Dyersburg; a son, Robert D. Vaughn and wife, Donna, of Paris; two grandchildren, Ann Claire Bullock and husband, Josh, of El Dorado, AR. and Mary Ellen Vaughn of Jackson; and a great-grandchild, Lila Rose Bullock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Pearline Jowers Vaughn; and three sisters, Dorothy Burnett, Billie Johnson and Beulah Reeder.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Jere Phillips, Jr., Ed Benthal, Nelson Richards, Roger Dudley, Joe Baker and Lewis Luckett.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Southside Baptist Church.
