Iris L. Arnott Lemley, 98, of Belpre, formerly of Decatur Township, died Monday, June 24, 2002, at Marietta Center for Health and Rehabilitation.


She was born Feb. 15, 1904, in Jackson County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Franklin M. and Rena Mae Adams Arnott.

She was a member of the Beverly United Methodist Church following 51 years as a member of the Decatur United Methodist Church. Many church activities, homemaking, and working in several occupations including dairy farming filled her life.
Survivors include three children, Robert G. Lemley of Belpre, Leah Evelyn Hoover of Lowell, and N. Eugene Lemley of Fayetteville, N.C. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Lester C. Lemley; one son, Lloyd Max Lemley; one daughter, Betty Jean Lemley; one granddaughter, Darlene Smith; three brothers; one sister; and her parents, preceded her in death.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Leavitt Funeral Home in Belpre, with Rev. Hugh Ashby officiating. Burial will be in Rockland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Thursday and Friday until the hour of service.
