ST. CHARLES, Minn.- George H. Baier, 85, St. Charles, died of a heart ailment at his home here Sunday morning following a long illness.

A retired farmer, he was born March 7, 1889, in Jordan Township, near Chatfield, to William and Martha Bernard Baier. He married Esther Goldsmith Oct 6, 1915, in Chatfield. He spent his lifetime in the area with the exception of four years in Cody, Wyo.

He farmed until 1954 and was a night watchman at the Hubbard Turkey Plant, Altura, until retiring in 1966. He was a member of St. Charles United Methodist Church.

Survivors are: his wife; one brother, Carl, Worden, Mont., and four sisters, Mrs. Nina Holets, Preston, Minn.; Mrs. Nellie Hanley, Chatfield; Mrs. Ruth Waldron, Rochester, and Mrs. Frank (Beth) Hayden, Charlotte, N.C.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Charles Methodist Church, the Rev. Kenneth Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the Chatfield Cemetery.

Friends may call at Sellner-Hoff Funeral Home from 4 p.m. Tuesday until noon on Wednesday and then at the church after 1 p.m.
