'WASH' BLAKE DIES
IN HOSPITAL HERE

G.A. "Wash" Blake of 413 South Main Street, who has been a prominent leader of Negroes in Carlsbad, died this morning at St. Francis Hospital at 9:15 o'clock.

Blake has been a resident of Carlsbad since 1920, and a member of the Rice Methodist Church since coming to this city. No funeral arrangements have been made.

Survivors include his widow, Anna Mae; two daughters, Charlene of Carlsbad and Mrs. Lee Ella Gaskin of Kansas City, Kans; one son, Volney Blake of Kansas City, Kans.; a nephew, James Blake of Carlsbad, and four grandchildren.

THIS AFTERNOON

Funeral for G.A. "Wash" Blake, prominent leader among the Negro population of Carlsbad who died Friday morning at St. Francis Hospital, will be conducted this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Rice Memorial Church.

Burial will be in Carlsbad Cemetery, under the direction of the West Funeral Home.

Blake had been a resident in Carlsbad since 1920 and was well known here. He has been a member of the Rice Memorial Church since coming to this city.

The Negro Masonic Lodge, of which Blake was a long time member, will conduct the services at the cemetery.
