Harriette Belle (Reed) White was the daughter of Sylvester & Ida (Stone) Reed, Sr.. She was a graduate of the Rome Free Academy in 1932. She retired from Rome Developmental Center in 1972. She was a Gold Star Mother and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She left this old earthly dust of a home on Sunday, November 4, 1984 for her Heavenly HOme on high. Harriette leaves two sons, Donald H. White & David J. White to mourn in the loss of their dearly beloved Mother. She also leaves a sister, Evelyn & a brother, James H. Reed & five grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Clarence T. White, whom passed away in February 1954. Granny White's going home services were held on Wednesday, November 7th. at the Martin J. Nunn Funeral Home at 1 pm. She was laid to rest in the Rome Cemetery. Granny White, what we called her, was so very kind and such a sweet and caring Christian lady. We were in the USAF and stationed there at Griffiss AFB in 1973- 1976. This dear sweet lady took us in and treated us like her own children. I will forever be thankful that God put her there and helped guide us. Even when we left Rome and returned ack to our home here in Texas, she always would writh, send the kids money & cards for their birhtdays and for Easter. Me & Tom & the kids love you so Granny White. You will be foreve missed and forever remembered with our love. You were a GRAND LADY, and I know you have a bunch of stars in your crown there in Heaven. We will meet you on the far side of Jordon Granny White until then we love you and have our precious memories of you forever!
