Enlisted on April 20, 1862 in Clarke County, Mississippi for 3 years. as 2nd Lieutenant. Wounded at the Battle of Corinth, Mississippi on October 3, 1862, he was captured at the surrender of Vicksburg, Mississippi in July, 1863. He was later exchanged in November, 1863. He was reported in a Confederate Hospital in February, 1863, but shortly returned to his regiment. Mortally wounded on November 30th and died of his wounds in a Franklin Confederate Hospital in December, 1864.
