Charles Ervin Brenneman Jr. of Kingwood, Texas, formerly of Dacono, died Saturday, July 23, 2005, in Kingwood. He was 84.
He was born Oct. 3, 1920, to Charles and Katie Brenneman in Cordorus Township, Pa.
Mr. Brenneman was a graduate of Glenville High School in Glenville, Pa., and enlisted in the U.S. Army soon after his graduation in 1940, serving in the Packtrain in Panama and later transferring to the Army Air Force, where he trained to become a navigator.
He and his wife, Bonnie, were married Oct. 28, 1944, at Nellis Base in Las Vegas.
Following his separation from the Army, the couple moved to Omaha, Neb., where Mr. Brenneman worked as a tool and die maker and later learned the electrical trade.
He was an active member of the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No. 68 in Denver for more than 50 years and remained so until his death, retiring from the trade in the mid- 1980s. He loved to fly and held a private pilot license most of his life. This love of flying was shared by his son.
The couple also enjoyed traveling all around the United States and into Canada. Mr. Brenneman especially enjoyed his trips to Alaska and Hawaii. One of the high points of his life was the opportunity to accompany his son, a chief petty officer assigned to the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson, on a Tiger Cruise, traveling from Pearl Harbor to San Diego as the ship was returning from a six-month cruise to the Persian Gulf.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Mr. Brenneman is survived by his wife of 60 years; three daughters, Judy McGraw and her husband Larry, Ginger Sweet and her husband Jim, and Vickie Brown; a son, Randy Brenneman and his wife Kelly; six grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.
Celebration-of-life services with military honors were held Monday, Aug. 8, in the chapel at the Veterans Administration Houston National Cemetery in Houston, with inurnment of his ashes in the Columbarium Niche. Page: 4
