DAVENPORT — Chris S. Cone, 78, of Davenport, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2011, at Trinity Bettendorf. Services to celebrate his life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly and Jersey Ridge in Davenport.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Chris was born in 1932 in Milton, Iowa, to Hamilton and Halley Cone. He was united in marriage to Darlene Joyce on September 20, 1952, in Davenport. Chris was a butcher for 36 years, working at American Provisions Company, Davenport Packing and later at Foremost Packing.

Chris was a veteran, serving with the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1955. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene; a brother, William Cone of Coal Valley, Ill.; a sister, Ruth Wright of Davenport; and two nieces and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a brother-in-law.
