Vergie Whiteley May, 78, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at home. Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Edge Park United Methodist Church. Interment: 11 a.m. Thursday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Vergie was born Feb. 19, 1932, in Pearsall to Travis and Lois Whiteley. She married the love of her life, John, Nov. 25, 1950. They were never apart except in the Spring of 1951, when John was in basic training with the Army. Vergie was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings; and brother-in-law, Billy May. Survivors: Husband, John May; sons, David May and wife, Darcy, and Paul May and wife, Gena; daughter, Susan Quinonez and husband, Eli; grandchildren, Hank, Clint, Wyatt and Akasha May and Rebecca Quinonez; and many extended family members and friends.
