George A. Mader, 78, of Great Falls, a retired pipefitter, died of Alzheimer's disease Saturday in Great Falls.

Born Dec. 3, 1913, at Blaisdel, North Dakota, George grew up, attended schools, and worked on farms there. He came to Montana in 1934 to continue work in farming at Inverness.

Mader married Mary E. Richter on June 1, 1938, in Inverness. They moved to Great Falls in 1942. He worked for the Great Falls Meat Company for two years before joining the Anaconda Co. as a pipefitter. He retired in 1975.

His wife died in 1990. Four brothers and four sisters also preceded him in death. Survivors include daughters, Deanna Greenwood of Great Falls, Karen Richardson of Colquitt, Georgia; sons, George of Snohomish, Wash.; and Ted and Roger of Seattle; a brother, Kenneth of Stanley, N.Dak.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
