Mr. Christian Weltzien, who owned a farm in Sycamore township, three miles northwest of this city died Wednesday of a general failure of vital powers. He was 73 years of age and came to this country from Germany 24 years ago.
His wife and five children, four daughters and one son, survive him. The children are Fred Weltzien, Mrs. Henry Riebook and Mrs. Fred Loptien, of Sycamore; Mrs. Henry Butzow, of Union, and Mrs. Fred Kruger, of Oak Glenn, Cook county.
The funeral services were from the house Friday afternoon at one o'clock and conducted by the pastor of the German Evangelical church of Genoa.
