Alfred Carnell Brittain, son of the late Lige and Nora Brittain, was born on Oct. 17, 1925, in Charlotte, Ark. and died Jan. 27, 2011, in Huntsville, Ala. at the age of 85.
Mr. Brittain was a veteran of the Korean War, a retired elementary school principal and school teacher in Southeast Missouri. He preached at a number of small churches in Southeast Missouri. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Chase Park Church of Christ in Huntsville and a former member of the Bernie Church of Christ.
On May 28, 1947 he was united in marriage to Dell Lanier in Alomo,Tenn. Mrs. Brittain preceded him in death.
He is survived by three daughters, Lanell and husband, Steve Hubbard, of Doniphan, Renee Brittain and Regina Brittain, both of Memphis, Tenn.; by one son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Carol Brittain of Huntsville, Ala.; by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, Dell, of 53 years, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Brittain and by one sister, Kathleen Brewington.
Visitation will be held at the Bernie Church of Christ in Bernie, Mo. on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Jan. 30 at 3 p.m. with Stan Dauck officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery. Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to The Linc Tutoring Center, Madison Academy or The Children's Home of Paragould, Ark.
