Cornelia "Connie" Graves Andrews, 87, born June 8, 1917, died June 17, 2004, in Richmond. Wife of the late James William Andrews, she moved to the Tidewater area from Charlottesville, Va., in 1942 and lived in Virginia Beach from 1960 until 1998. She graduated from Southern Seminary and was a housewife, volunteer, mother and grandmother. A few of her many interests were swimming weekly (until 2002), gardening and grand mothering. She served as a deacon and an elder at Thalia Trinity Church in Virginia Beach.
Survivors include three daughters, Jacqueline and husband, William J. Carey of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., Gail and husband, Thomas J. Casselton of Richmond and Beverly A. Lowe of Annapolis, Md.; and grandchildren, Margaret Lowe, Stephen Lowe, Emily Lowe, John Robinson, Elizabeth Robinson, Colleen Casselton, Danielle Casselton and Sean Casselton. She is also survived by two brothers, Carter Graves of Charlottesville and George Graves of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Myrtie Graves and a dear family friend, Elizabeth Nalley, both of Charlottesville; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Thalia Trinity Presbyterian Church Tuesday at 4 p.m. Burial will be private. Contributions may be made to Childrens Hospital of The Kings Daughters, P.O. Box 2156, Norfolk, VA 23501 or Thalia Trinity Presbyterian Church, 420 Thalia Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
