Nestor of Richmond Bankers and Philanthropist.
Veteran banker,President Merchants National Bank,and of Thomas Branch and Company,Bankers and Brokers,Richmond.
Educated in private schools of Petersburg.
Enlisted in the Forty-fourth Virginia Battalion in 1861,and became a First Lieutenant,and was at Appomattox when Lee surrendered.
Later he was detailed on the staff of Major Snodgrass,acting Quartermaster General for General Lee's army.
