Mary K. "Kathy" (Hemler) Keating Altland, of Abbottstown, passed peacefully on the morning of January 29, 2011. She was the wife of David R. Keating, Sr., her husband of 35 years, who died July 7, 1982, and Thomas M. Altland, her husband of 16 years, who died October 3, 2000.

She was born August 28, 1927, in Dallastown, the daughter of the late Francis P. and Mabel (Schuchart) Hemler.

Mrs. Altland was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbottstown, and a 1945 graduate of York Catholic High School.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Kathleen M. Griffith and husband, David C. of Abbottstown, and Diane M. Eck and husband, Donald L. of Hanover; three sons, David R. Keating, Jr. and wife, Rosy L. of Hanover, Michael S. Keating, Sr. and wife, Wanda M. of New Oxford, and Francis W. Keating, Sr. and wife, Theresa L. of Hanover; 25 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph H. Hemler and wife, Eileen of Pottstown, and James L. Hemler and wife, Georgianna of Dallastown; four sisters, Margaret Huson of York, Teresa Godfrey and husband, Richard of Felton, Frances Brandt and husband, William of Hagerstown, MD, and Elizabeth Reheard and husband, John of New Tazewell, TN; a brother-in-law, Robert Bailey of Elizabethtown; and two aunts, Grace Sterner and husband, Robert of New Oxford, and Rita Small of Hanover.

She was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Bailey.

Interment: Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Cemetery, Abbottstown.
