Funeral services for Frances W. Braxton, 98, of Kendleton, TX., are at 11 a .m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at Newman Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Albert Reed officiating. Burial is at Paradise Cemetery, Kendleton.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Pierce Boone Funeral Home. Final viewing is one hour prior to funeral services.
Mrs. Braxton died Feb. 2, 2008, at Gulf Coast Medical Center. She was born in Richmond to the parents George and Shellie Brown Swinson. She served 42 years as teacher and principal of Powell Point Elementary School, helping shape the lives of many. She was united in holy matrimony to Rudolph Braxton on Dec. 29, 1934. In Rudolph, she found a loving and devoted partner who lived in Kendleton, and helped to raise a number of children, including Craig L. Braxton and Erma Jean Johnson, deceased.
Preceding her in death were her parents, a devoted husband, Rudolph, of 52 years; daughter, Erma Jean; two sisters and a brother.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Craig Braxton and wife, Talita; grandchildren: Troy Johnson Sr., and wife, Melissa, Rodney Braxton and wife, Senora, Sean Johnson, Brent Braxton, Shellie Ephran and husband, Nyle, Steve Thomas Jr., Theseous Thomas and Joseph Thomas; great-grandchildren: Tiffany, Troy II, Nia, Tory, Cory, Blake, Christie, Jackson and Myles; nephew, Lorenza Butler Jr.; and a host of family and friends including “Little Frances,” whom “Mother Frances loved as much as a daughter.”
