Lovina was the daughter of Ethan and Clarissa (1788) Pember from New York. Her father had purchased land in Wood County in 1834. Lovina and William were married 24 February 1849 in Wood County. She had six children: Albion L., Harmon E., Clarissa Jane, Hiram Jesse, Albert Charles, and John Milton with the three youngest surviving in 1900.
