Mary Q. Lucero departed this world in peace on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011 after 90 years of life.
She is survived by her daughter, Anedina (Dina) E. Martinez and husband, Ted; her treasured grandchildren, Claudine M. Martinez, Bennie D. and wife, Molly; and her joyful great-grandchildren, Diego and Dyson Martinez; as well as friends and other family members who were present and helpful during her lifetime and the last days of her life.

Mrs. Lucero was preceded in death by her loving husband, Benerito (Bennie) Lucero where they resided in a ranching community, Garita, N.M. in San Miguel County. His death came at the early age of 54. Her greatest pleasure came from being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother as well as being a caregiver in the healthcare profession to her many family members and friends.

When Mrs. Lucero moved to Albuquerque, N.M. after the loss of her husband, she was a member of Church of the Risen Savior during her active days where she made sure her grandchildren were taught the Catholic faith, and instructed them in the dealings of the Catholic religion. Her other ties to a religious community were at La Sagrada Familia in Garita, N.M. Interment will take place there, at the same place her husband is buried. This is a request that she had always shared with the family - to be buried at the same place as her husband, Bennie.

Family and friends may visit Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Friday, Jan. 28 from 6 p.m. until a rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 29 9 a.m., also at Risen Savior Catholic Community. Interment will follow at La Sagrada Familia at 3 p.m. in Garita, N.M.

The family wishes to thank The Retreat and Hospice of New Mexico for their loving care provided to Mary.
