May 27, 1949-The Progress-Clearfield, Pa
C. G. Krise of DuBois, member of the state House of Representatives from the Second District of Clearfield County continuously since 1938, died at the Mt. Alto Sanitarium at 6:30 o'clock this morning. He was 56 years of age.
He became ill last summer when he was stricken with pneumonia.
Born at Fallen Timber December 8, 1892, the son of George and Sara Krise, he came to DuBois in 1915 as a student at the DuBois Business College. Later that year he purchased that business and has been its owner and operator since that time.
He was educated in the public schools of Cambria County and was graduated from Valparaiso University, Indiana.
Long active in the Republican party, he was first elected to the General Assembly in 1938. He was reelected in 1940, 1942, 1944,1946 and 1948. The deceased was a member of the Joint State Government Commission and a member of the professional licensing and education committees. During his legislative career he served as chairman of the banking committee of the House for two terms and was chairman of the professional licensing committee for one term.
A 33rd degree Mason, his Masonic affiliations included the Garfield Lodge of DuBois, the Williamsport Consistory and the Jaffa Shrine of Altoona. He was admitted to the Supreme Council as a 33rd degree Mason in 1946.
He was a former lay leader of the First Methodist Church of DuBois and was a member of its official board at the time of his death.
Surviving him are his widow, Mrs Ruth Kline Krise and one daughter, Sally Lou, 14. A son, Robert, died in infancy.
He is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Mrs Roy Beers, Bellwood; Mrs Oscar Peterson, DuBois; John C Krise, Fallen Timber and Blair A Krise, New Cumberland.
Funeral services will be held from the Moore Funeral Home, DuBois, Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in charge of Rev. William H Sloan of the First Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Beechwood Cemetery.
Commenting on the death, Weir W Mullen, county chairman of the Republican party said:
"The county has suffered a real loss in the death of Representative Krise. His faithfulness in carrying out the duties of his office and his constant interest in promoting the general welfare of his constituents were outstanding factors in his being elected to six terms in the Legislature."
