Jeremiah was born in Attleboro, MA. His parents were Hannah Round and Benjamin Lewis. His siblings were: Samuel, Chase, Bowers, Levi, Hannah, Almira, Alfred, Sylvester, Caroline, Caleb, Angeline and Orin Judson. Jeremiah also had a 1/2 brother, Benjamin, by his father's 1st marriage to Lydia Bosworth. He married Lucetta LaRue Carpenter on Dec. 29, 1835 in Thompson, CT. Their children were: Maria Almira (my g-g-grandmother), Elijah Carpenter, Lydia F. (who died at age 4), Phebe Lovinia (who died at 38) and Jane Frances.
Jeremiah was a mason and his brother James was the contractor to build "The Arcade" in downtown Providence, Rhode Island. Jeremiah's son Elijah also worked with them on that job. The Arcade is still there and a great building of 3 floors with all interior balconies overlooking the center of the building. Although it is not in use and the owners are threatening to tear it down (2010).
