Jo Ann Riedel Atkins passed away January 23rd, 2011, having lived a full and active life as a wife, mother, pianist, composer, arranger and friend. Jo Ann was born to Michael P. Riedel and Helen Chaffin Riedel, January 23, 1928, and grew up in Wister, OK. She graduated from the University of Arkansas with a double major in Piano and Music Theory as well a Masters Degree in History. Her tremendous musical talent, personal warmth and personality touched the lives of many piano and voice students as well as people who participated in religious choir performances, musical shows, dancing recitals and many, many other music productions. She is survived by Gregory H. Atkins, her husband and life partner of 63 years, her daughters Wendy Atkins and Gaelle Atkins of Elgin, TX, her son Mike Atkins and his wife, Patricia and three grandchildren, Mary, Michelle and Michael of Bellaire, TX, and many good friends and neighbors. A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, January 29th, at 10:00 A.M., at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK. The Reverend Kristina Maulden will officiate.
