Obituary
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 4, 2009 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Lauris Guiilbeau, age 94, the former Lauris Prejean, who passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 1:45 a.m. at Evangeline Oaks Guest House in Carencro.
Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Msgr. Charles Mallet, retired pastor of Lafayette, assisted by Deacon Gary Gaudin of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Musical selections will be provided by Tony Broussard. The songs will be Amazing Grace, 23rd Psalm, Hail Mary, One Bread, One Body and How Great Thou Art.
Mrs. Guilbeau was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro. She was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Bonne Mort Society, St. Anne Society, Ladies Altar Society, Sacred Heart League and Legion of Mary.
Survivors include one son, Harold L. Guilbeau and his wife, Madonna, of Lafayette; six grandchildren, Michael Guilbeau and his wife, Pattie, of Watkinsville, GA, Deborah Guidroz and her husband, Michael, of Lafayette, Mark Guilbeau of Charlottesville, VA, Dana Guilbeau Bosch and her husband, John, of Lafayette, Magdalaena Lydick and her husband, Jerry, of Lafayette, and Matthew Guilbeau of Lafayette; six great grandchildren, Tyler Guidroz, Emily Guidroz, Skyler Lydick, Alicia Lydick, Jolie Bosch and Sophia Bosch, all of Lafayette; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Belaire of Lafayette; and two nieces, Belle Benoit of Lafayette and Shelby Hamilton of New Iberia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raoul Guilbeau; one son, Jerry Guilbeau; three sisters, Euzea "Chuckee" Benoit, Buna Domingue and Celeste Guilbeau; and by her parents, Amedee Prejean and the former Elosia Comeaux, both natives of Carencro.
Pallbearers will be Michael Guilbeau, Mark Guilbeau, Matthew Guilbeau, Tyler Guidroz, Michael Guidroz, John Bosch, Jerry Lydick and Robert Burton.
Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 North University Avenue was in charge of arrangements.
