Obituary
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2008 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Alex Guilbeau, age 83, who passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 9:28 a.m. at his residence in Carencro.
Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Reader will be Sister Emeline Theriot. Giftbearers will be Alaina Guilbeau and Jeanne Guilbeau.

Musical selections will be provided by Charlotte Jagneaux, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Amazing Grace, Be Not Afraid, Here I Am Lord, You Are Near, and Just A Closer Walk With Thee.

Alex was a native of Grand Coteau and a resident of Carencro for most of his life. He was employed at Bill's Millwork as a carpenter and later worked at J.B. Mouton until his retirement. Alex was a veteran of the military having served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Carencro War Veterans. He was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Lucy Martin Guilbeau of Carencro; two sons, Brian Guilbeau and his wife, Kim and Kirk Guilbeau and his wife, Jessica, all of Carencro; five daughters, Jo Anna Lee and her husband, Kent, of Carencro, Priscilla Bourque and her husband, Joe, of Houston, Jennifer Girouard and her husband, Ruben, of Carencro, Mona Guilbeau Bellard and her husband, John, of Lafayette and Melissa Berry and her husband, Mike, of Dallas; fourteen grandchildren, Toby Lee and his wife, Darlene, Cory Lee, Brady Lee and his wife, Tina, Cherie Fotch and her husband, David, Bobby Bourque and his wife, Jennifer, Chris Bourque and his wife, Zury, Shannon Girouard, Leslie Suire and her husband, Eric, Brent Guilbeau, Jeanne Guilbeau, Alaina Guilbeau, James Guilbeau, Jason Breaux and his wife, Barbara, and Lauren Berry; eight great grandchildren; three step grandchildren, Kayla Magee, Amy Magee and Melanie Magee; and one sister, Anna Mae Roger and her husband, J.D., of Port Neches, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Batiste Guilbeau and the former Eva Noel; two brothers, Harris Guilbeau and Austin Guilbeau; and one sister, Cleymey G. Prejean.

Pallbearers will be Toby Lee, Cory Lee, Brady Lee, Kent Lee, Shannon Girouard and John Bellard.

Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 North University Avenue was in charge of arrangements.
