She was born Jan. 26, 1933, in Augusta, a daughter of Loring and Anna (Giroux) Smith. She married John Anthony Sr. in 1949, having one son and two daughters.
Ola worked at the Togus VA for 15 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Ola was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She made custom Christmas ornaments for her grandchildren every year. Ola was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Richard, John and Thomas; and four sisters, Margaret Shea, Annie Downs, Pearl Tregembo and Mary Eugley.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John H. Anthony Sr. of West Gardiner; three children, John H. Anthony Jr. and his wife, Cathy, and their children, Thomas and Michael; Kathryn Anthony and her husband, Thomas Roche, and their children, Rebecca, Jennifer and Christopher; and Peggy Beaudoin and her husband, John, and their children, Betty Jo, John and Angela; a brother, Loring (Bud) Smith; and three sisters, Dorraine Austin, Nancy York and Eula (Laddie) Paterson; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel on the Mount Vernon Road in Augusta. (Kennebec Journal 1/25/2011)
