Enlisted on July 20, 1862 at Moore County, North Carolina as a Private in the 3rd North Carolina Infantry, Company C. Wounded on September 17, 1862 at Sharpsburg, Maryland. POW on May 12, 1864 at Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia. Confined to Point Lookout, Maryland on May 14, 1864. Transferred to Elmira on August 10, 1864. Died of variola as a POW.
