Mrs. W. H. Sharp OF Helens Passes Away
Ella R. Best, the oldest daughter of Aaron and Malinda Best, was born near Monrovia, Kansas Dec 4, 1861, and departed this life in Kansas City, Missouri, September 25, 1916, being 54 years, 7 months, 21 days of age.
On December 25, 1884, she was united in marriage to W. H. Sharp of Muscotah Kansas, and to this happy union were born six children, four of whom having preceded the mother in death.
While yet only a girl she was converted to God, and united with the Methodist Episcopal church. In the year, 1900, the family move to Helena, Missouri, where they have resided ever since.
For the last year or more she has been in poor health. Very recently, accompanied by her husband, she made a trip to Kansas City, where she expected to secure medical treatment. The operation was successful and the prospects of recovery were very hopeful. She was cheerful and told her husband that Jesus was with her through it all. But as the hours of the night wore on she became weaker and in spite of trained minds and the medical skill just as the light of new day was being ushered in she quietly slipped away into the great beyond.
She was a faithful member of this church always ready and willing to do her part and was also a loyal member of the Ladies' aid society and the W. C. T. U., and her place in these societies will be hard to fill. No praise is too great to do justice to this noble good woman.
She was a devoted companion, a tender mother, a kind neighbor, and shall be greatly missed by all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, two children, Albert and Twila, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Best, besides many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church at Helena by her pastor, Rev. Harry K. Morga in the presence of a large gathering of neighbors and friends, after which the body was shipped to Monrovia, Kansas, her old home for burial.
