Married Elizabeth Luck, 21 April 1848, in Milton Keynes, Buckingham, England, later separated.
Children - Zipporia Hartup, Joseph Hartup
History - Daughter Zipporah died, aged three weeks, on the 10th November 1850 at Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England. The death certificate indicates that the cause was unknown but probably in modern terms what we would call a ‘cot death' or perhaps some weakness from birth which was destined to be fatal.
Married Frances Stringer, 2 Apr 1859, Chilwell, Geelong, Victoria, Australia
Jesse signed with a X, Frances signed her own name and the ceremony took place at the "House of Mr. Stringer, Chilwell, Geelong, according to the rites and ceremonies of the Wesleyan Church and the witnesses were William Stringer and Mary Anne Stringer.
Children - Frances Jessie Hartup, Henry William Hartup, Jesse Herbert Hartup, Charles Edward Hartup, Alfred Albert Hartup, Ada Louisa Hartup, Ada Hartup, Clara Maria Hartup, Elizabeth Hartup, Robert Andrew Hartup
History - Jesse arrived in Utah with his parents-in-law, a brother-in-law named William Luck, a wife named Elizabeth Luck, and his son named Joseph Hartup.
Jesse arrived in Sydney in 1858 on the ship "Juanita" which had sailed from San Francisco. The reason for coming to Sydney first was possibly that his brother Robert had emigrated there some time earlier. Whether they did meet up is unknown – if they did, Robert's descendants didn't appear to be aware of it. Jesse then traveled south to Geelong, Victoria and married Frances Stringer.
