RAPID CITY - Heming "Gus" Bayzand Bomford III, 67, of Rapid City died Monday, January 24, 2005, at Fort Meade VA Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2005, at the Black Hawk Community Church, with Pastor Allen Bates officiating. Immediately following the service a time of fellowship and refreshments at the church. A memorial dinner will be held 5:30 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2005, at the Minneluzahan Citizens Senior Center in Rapid City.

He was born May 30, 1937, at Belle Fourche, SD, to Heming "Bump" Bayzand II and Lorraine "Tottie"(Robertson) Bomford. He served in the United States Army from August 13, 1957, until his discharge on September 19, 1962.

Gus was a very active rock hound that enjoyed the outdoors with friends and family. Gus loved to travel on back roads looking for deer or gems. He had a special Love for children and never missed a chance to tease them or take them for a ride. He had a special love for his closest friend, Bud Hurd, and together they co-owned their water treatment business for many years until Bud's death. Gus's health started to deteriorate immediately after Bud's loss and Gus suffered terribly until he joined his many friends in heaven. Looking at Nature's Beauty.

Survivors include wife Geraldine "Gerry" Bomford, sons Gary Steffensen, Sheldon Bomford, daughters Lorrie Erb, Susan Denton, Tammy Bomford, sister Barbara Winter, sixteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made by donating blood in name of "Gus."
