Caleb Glisson was born on 20 December 1777 in Chestor Co. to Thomas Glisson and an unknown mother. He was an only child.
According to the Pennsylvanian Vital Records Vol II pg 489, John Graves, Esquire performed the marriage of Caleb Gliston to Dolly Patterson in West Chester, PA on 28 February 1805. The book Genealogy of the Rettew Family (1658-1986) The French Hugenot (Northern France) and his Descendants, confirms Dorothy Patterson was born 1787 married 28 Feb 1805 to Caleb Glisson b 20 Dec 1777 d 25 Jun 1824. Her parents were John and Abigail Rettew Patterson. She also was an only child.
They were the parents of 13 living children; Elmer 1805, Mary Ann 1806, Hibram 1807, Thomas 1808, Jesse 1809, Elizabeth 1810, Suzannah 1812, Lydia 1814, William 1815, Sally Ann 1817, Caleb 1819, Joseph 1821 and Marshall 1823.
He owned a plantation in West Goshen.
According to the Abstracts of Wills Chester Co. PA Vol IV 1801-1825 pg. 556- #7523 14 Jun 1824. Caleb Glisson died intestate of W. Goshen. A newspaper article in the Village Record of Chestor Co. which is on file at the Chestor Co. Historical Society says, "June 20, 1824 West Chester, Pennsylvania Chester VILLAGE RECORD death notice on the 25th ult. in West Goshen, Mr. Caleb Glisson, after a long and painful illness, aged 46 years, 6 months, and 25 days, and on the 27th his remains were interred in East Goshen Friends Burying Grounds, by a large and respectable company of relations and friends."
