Obituary
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Edras Prejean, age 86, who passed away Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 8:08 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Readers will be Kelly Caldwell and Sarah Prejean. Gift bearers will be all of his grandchildren.

Musical selections will be provided by Ron Moreau, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be, Notre Pere, Just A Closer Walk With Thee, Old Rugged Cross and How Great Thou Art.

Edras was a native of Vatican and resident of the Lafayette/ Carencro area. He was a self employed Electrician for many years before his retirement. Mr. Prejean was a parishioner of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Carencro. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Carencro War Veterans and Woodmen of the World. Mr. Prejean was a veteran of the military, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the Philippines.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Legere Prejean; one son, Paul Prejean and his wife Diane of Lafayette; one daughter, Pat Prejean of Lafayette; step son, Carlton Benton and his wife, Belinda, of Carencro; five grandchildren, Kellie Caldwell and her husband, Robert, of Boston, MA, Laura Bixenman and her husband, Shawn, Brandon Prejean and his wife, Jenny, Sarah Prejean and Abby Prejean, all of Lafayette; step grandchildren, Jeremy Benton and his wife Sherie and Mandy Benton all of Tulsa OK, Luke Benton of Carencro, Dwayne Menard and his wife Dusti, of Breaux Bridge and Drake Menard, of Carencro; six great grandchildren, Dane, Madison and Morgan Caldwell, Hailey and Noah Bixenman and Peyton Prejean; and two sisters Rita Breaux and Betty Cormier, both of Carencro.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beulah "Sis" Hernandez Prejean; step daughter, Connie Menard; his parents, Camille Prejean and the former Alice Cormier; one brother, Aldus "Dud" Prejean and a half brother, Ulysse "Jimmy" Roger; and half sister, Elida "Toot" Roger Smith Savoie.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Prejean, Shawn Bixenman, John Jerome Hernandez, John Ashby Hernandez, Gary Hernandez and Tony Landry. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Caldwell, Weston Kilchrist and Wilson Wood.

Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 North University Avenue, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
