Funeral services for Monroe Exner, 75 of Lincoln, Texas, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Texas with Rev. Dale Bohm officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. A Prayer Service will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Exner passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2010 at the Richard's Memorial Hospital in Rockdale, Texas.

Monroe Carl Exner was born on May 18, 1935 in Lincoln, Texas to Emil Oswald & Agnes Marie (Lehmann) Exner. He was baptized on May 26, 1935 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Monroe was a retired drywall applicator who enjoyed working with his cattle. He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln and was an involved member of the community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil & Agnes Exner; half sister, Edna Exner; brother, Clarence Exner; sister-in-law, Norma Exner; niece and nephew-in-law, Debbie & David Noack and a great niece, Destiny Noack.

Monroe is survived by his three children, Carl Exner and wife, Sandra of Lincoln, Susan Smith and husband, Tim of Lincoln and Pamela Machac and husband, Darren of Giddings; eight grandchildren, Candace & Nathan Schimank of Fedor, Craig & Cheree Exner of Lincoln, Keith & Heidi Exner of Lincoln, Michelle & Brandon Krause of Serbin, Dustin & Denise Kieschnick, Ashli & Steven Hartranft of Manheim, Benjamin Machac of Giddings and Chaise Machac; two step grandchildren, Jenny & J.R. Beasley of New York and Amy Smith & Robert Reamy of Brenham; seven great grandchildren, Clay & Colt Schimank of Fedor, Baylen & Kellan Exner of Lincoln, Madison & Bryce Krause of Serbin and Carson Hartranft of Manheim; four step great grandchildren, Jaedon, Gracie, Kaia, Elliot Beasley of New York; three brothers, Walter Exner of Lexington, Martin & Dorothy Exner of Lincoln and Elton & Janice Exner of Houston as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Craig Exner, Keith Exner, Dustin Kieschnick, Benjamin Machac, Tim Exner and Jason Exner. Honorary pallbearers will be Chaise Machac, Nathan Schminak, Brandon Krause, Steven Hartranft, Ronnie Exner, LeRoy Exner and Clarence Schroeder.

Memorials may be made to the St. John Lutheran Church School Tuition Assistance Fund or the charity of one's choice.
