During WWII days, at different times, 2-of my sisters and I went to Port Orange FL where we resided with "Granny & Poppy", our grandparents. I remember standing in the front yard when he began singing "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" and "Let Me Call You Sweetheart". Today, now in my 70's, I sing those songs. What beautiful memories we have of those cherished times.
Granny, "Catherine Agnes Murphy Reiners, a devout Catholic, made sure we made our "First Holy Communion", while in Port Orange, FLorida. She dressed us in white silk dresses, white patent leather shoes, and beautiful white veils, along with our "Mass & Holy Communion Missals".
Charles Henry Andrew Reiners succumbed to cancer following surgery at Somerset Hospital, in New Brunswick, NJ in 1952. At the time he resided in South Bound Brook, New Jersey.
