He passed away peacefully on May 13, 2006, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born at Swenson Nursing Home in Hammonton on July 13, 1948. He married his wife on July 20, 1968, and they were blessed with three sons.

He was predeceased by his father, Ivor Winterbottom; his brother, Richard Winterbottom; and sister, Norma Winterbottom Champion.
