CASTRO Ruth Ann Garrett, New Orleans native passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011, at the age of 81. Beloved wife of Lucien Joseph Castro of 60 years, and mother of Lucien Joseph Castro, Jr., Russell Alphonse Castro, and Christopher Thomas Castro. Grandmother of Alexander Johann Pascal Castro, Carson Alphonse Castro, and Camille Jeannealyce Castro. Also survived by her brothers Thomas Jefferson Garrett, Jr., Larry Garrett, and Terrence Leon Murr, as well as a large number of nieces and nephews. A "natural" teacher, she was best known for her boundless and dutiful love and service to her husband, sons, family, friends, and community; as well as her magnificent generosity and sociability. Ruth was a vivacious, consummate New Orleanian who enjoyed travelling, the arts, literature, theatre, and music. She loved to cook, entertain, dance, and enjoy Mardi Gras festivities with family and friends. She will be sorely missed by all those whose lives she touched.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Visitation 10:00 AM and Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM, at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 6666 Spanish Fort Blvd. on Thursday, January 20, 2011, Msgr. Clinton J. Doskey, presiding. Interment will follow immediately in All Saints Mausoleum.
