MARY LOUISE BENCHOFF, 79, died at home in Waynesboro Pennsylvania on January 15, 2011.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan January 17 1931. She was the daughter of John and Helen Kilpatrick. She grew up in Detroit and went on to attend Hood College in Frederick MD and graduated in 1952 with a degree in History. She was an accomplished equestrian while at Hood and through her riding was introduced by a mutual friend to her future husband the late J. Martin Benchoff. She was very active at the Church of The Transfiguration in Blue Ridge Summit PA and served on the church vestry for many years. She along with her late husband were two of the founders of the Waynesboro Daycare Center. She was a member of the Garden club, The College Club, the Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary, and a patron of the Humane Society.
She was the much loved mother of Helen Marie Benchoff of Waynesboro Pennsylvania and J. Martin Benchoff, Jr., of Wenham Massachusetts and the beloved grandmother of Elizabeth Benchoff, Charlotte Benchoff, Alexandra Benchoff and Wyatt Benchoff.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 20, 2011, in The Church of the Transfiguration, 13646 Summit Ave., Blue Ridge Summit. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Waynesboro Daycare Center 1801 East Main St., Waynesboro PA 17268 or to The Church of The Transfiguration, P.O. Box B, Blue Ridge Summit PA, 17214.
