First wife of Henry Heeb. Married April 23, 1878.
5 Children of this union: John, Frank, Barbara, Grace and Buell.

Mrs. Henry Heeb, nee Belles, died at her home on West Gallatin, near Manhattan, Sunday morning, Jan. 15, 1899. She was not taken dangerously ill until noon, Saturday, and her sudden death was a great shock to her family and the entire neighborhood. Her mother was visiting her, and her relatives were quickly summoned. Mr. and Mrs. Olds, Mrs. Wright and Mr. Adams came from Butte, Mr. and Mrs. Will Belles, from Hamilton, Miss Newberry and Mr. Richardson from Bozeman. Mr. Scanlan and Mrs. Bishop were kept away by sickness.

The funeral concourse was one of the largest ever gathered on West Gallatin. Rev. Geo. D. King, pastor of Belgrade and Manhattan circuit, M. E. Church, read the eleventh chapter of St. John's gospel and preached from Rev. xiv:13 – "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord." Mr. and Mrs. Corey, Mrs. Haskell and Mr. Peters sang a beautiful quartette – "Farewell."

The pall bearers were: Charles Holgate, M. D. Ledbeater, Wm. Perks, B. M. Dawes, D. Cameron, W. H. Babcock – all of them among the first settlers of Montana.

Mrs. Heeb was not quite forty-three years of age. She came with her parents to Bannack, Montana (then Idaho), in 1862, and to Virginia City the next year. She was married to Mr. Heeb in 1879. Five children survive her – three sons and two daughters – aged from 19 to 9 years. Her devotion to her family was perfect. She was one of the foremost supporters of the church and Sunday school and in all matters of neighborhood interest, and no one could be more sorely missed than she. She has gone "to be with Christ, which is far better."

Mr. Heeb desires herewith to express his sincere gratitude to the many friends whose aid and sympathy have surrounded him, and his, in this hour of sad bereavement.

Mrs. Henry Heeb, nee Belles, a former resident of this county, died at her home on West Gallatin Sunday, Jan. 15. Mrs. Heeb was a sister of Mrs. L. B. Olds and Mrs. J. H. Scanlan, both residents of Red Bluff. She was 43 years of age. She came to Virginia City with her parents in 1863 and is known to many of the older residents of Madison county. She leaves a husband and five children, who survive her. ~ Printed in the Anaconda Standard, January 31, 1899
