Mrs. Margarete Kaiser Acker, 84, of Fayetteville, lost her brave battle with cancer Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008. Mrs. Acker was born July 12, 1924, in Vienna, Austria. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. Mrs. Acker was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Acker. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Jensen and husband Larry of Fayetteville; son, Robert C. Acker and wife Debra of Roxboro; four grandchildren, Kelly Ferry and husband Joe, Renee Faircloth and husband Duke, all of Fayetteville, and Austin Acker and Magen Carden, both of Durham; a great-grandson, Kian Ferry of Fayetteville; a sister, Erika Breitengraser of Vienna; a dear friend, Betty Higginbotham of Fayetteville; and her faithful pet, Boots, who never left her side. The family will welcome friends at 5631 Birch Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fayetteville Animal Protection Society, 3927 Bragg Blvd., Fayetteville, NC 28303. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
