Eldest son of Catherine "Caty" Adkisson and Moses Baskin. Born in Tennessee most likely in Roane where his parents were married in 1805. Also in 1814 his father Moses was part of BROWN'S REG'T, EAST TENNESSEE fighting the Battle of Horseshoe Bend, that crushed the Creeks and helped Andrew Jackson win the Presidency.
The family moved to Tipton County sometime after Moses returned from the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. In April 1836 Andrew J married Casaner AKA "Casana" Dacus. Together Andrew and Casana raised 7 children in Tipton County. Andrew died on Aug 17, 1863. Both Andrew and Casana are buried in Indian Creek Cemetery along with other family members.
